Faculty Spotlight – Rosemary Kim

What’s your role at the university?
Assistant Professor of Accounting

What is the most important thing you have learned since joining LMU?
I have learned that LMU is an institution like no other. Every person I have met on campus is truly delightful, genuine, and proud to be a Lion. It is the first time in my career that I have been a part of such an engaged workplace.

Before working at LMU, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve had?
I worked as a dental assistant while in college. There was never a dull moment with many kooky and erratic patients.

What was the name of the last book you read?
Atonement by Ian McEwan

If you were stuck on an island, name three items you would want to bring.
Scuba gear, a spear, and my husband to enjoy the sunset with until we are rescued.

If you could enjoy dinner and conversation with anyone in history, who would it be and why?
Ella Fitzgerald, the Queen of Jazz. I am a fan of her ageless eloquent songs. I would like to watch her sing “Dream A Little Dream of Me” with Louis Armstrong (if I can invite a second person).

When you’re away from work, what is your favorite thing to do?
Cook with my two kids while listening to 80’s music.

Tell us something interesting about yourself that others may not know.
When I was a little girl, my dream was to be a famous singer. Then as a teenager, my dream was to be a mathematician. Eventually, I realized I was not good enough to accomplish either.
