MISSION AND MINISTRY | The CSJ Center’s 2018 symposium, “The World on the Move: Migration and Immigration in Uncertain Times,” will be held Tuesday, Jan. 23, through Thursday, Jan. 25. This year’s symposium will feature presenters who will speak from local and global perspectives.
Among the presentations are: “Immigrant Advocacy on the Ground,”with Professor Kathleen Kim from Loyola Law School; “Contributions of the Foreign-Born to the California Economy,” with Jeff Thies from the College of Business Administration; “Close to Home: Stories from Faculty and Staff;” “Passing Over: Migration, Theology and the Eucharist,” with Daniel G. Groody, C.S.C., from the University of Notre Dame; and a promo of a documentary film titled “Who’s My Neighbor?” by Charles Vijay Kumar, C.Ss.R.

The CSJ Center for Reconciliation and Justice, administered by the Congregation of St. Joseph women’s religious order, serves faculty, staff, alumni and students, offering a forum for dialogue, a place of education and a resource for reflective action. Our spirituality, which calls us to live in God and for others, is based on the charism of the founder, Jean Pierre Medaille, S.J. (1650, Le Puy, France). In the spirit of their foundress, Mother Bernard Gosselin, C.S.J. (1912, Eureka, California) the Sisters of St. Joseph continually seek to move forward with a pioneer spirit of bold faith, foresight, and flexibility as gifts for their mission.
