MISSION AND MINISTRY | Tom Chabolla ’81 has been appointed president of the Jesuit Volunteer Corps.
As president of JVC, Chabolla will oversee this unique post-graduate service program inspired by the Ignatian tradition. JVC engages passionate young people to promote social justice by providing vital services to communities in need and fostering the growth of leaders committed to faith in action through a framework of Catholic, Ignatian values.
JVC is the largest lay Catholic, full-time volunteer program in the world and has been a pioneer in the service landscape for 40 years. More than 10,000 men and women have served tens of thousands of individuals and families within hundreds of communities worldwide since its inception, according to their website.
Chabolla earned his degree in liberal studies, with a minor in business administration. He has served as a chaplain at LMU, studied at the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, California, and has worked at the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, the Catholic Campaign for Human Development, the Service Employees International Union and NeighborWorks America.
The LMU family wishes Tom and his wife Carolyn well as he begins this exciting leadership position with JVC.
