LMU Yoga Day 2019

LMU BELLARMINE COLLEGE OF LIBERAL ARTS | The 8th Annual Yoga Day will be held at Loyola Marymount University, Saturday, Oct. 26, 2019 from 10 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. A celebration of the Yoga tradition, experience, and its many expressions, this year’s event emphasizes the importance of accessibility, advocacy and recognition of the growing diversity within the Yoga community. LMU Yoga Day features a keynote discussion with Accessible Yoga’s Jivana Heyman, a full day of yoga classes, lectures and practices, and a closing concert with Los Angeles artists Govind Das and Radha.

With a variety of offerings including asana and movement classes, meditation sessions, music, philosophical discussions, a writing workshop, film screening and more, Yoga Day draws upon LA’s rich Yoga community and features world-renowned guest teachers from studios, practice centers, and spiritual communities across Southern California, including alumni from LMU’s own Yoga Studies programs.

Yoga Day is organized and presented by LMU’s Master of Arts in Yoga Studies program. The first of its kind in North America, the graduate curriculum is designed to help students explore Yoga’s rich history, its relationship to religion, spirituality, philosophy, and health science, while also considering the placement of modern Yoga in today’s world.

LMU Yoga Studies invites new practitioners and experienced ones alike to come enjoy the many offerings of the Yoga tradition at Yoga Day on LMU’s main campus. Check-in opens at 9 a.m. in University Hall. This event is completely free and is open to the public. Check out the schedule and RSVP today.
