A Letter of Support During Finals from the Dean of Students

Dear LMU Students:

It’s hard to believe that we are in the final week of the spring semester. This has been a long and challenging semester for all of us, and I want to recognize each of you for how you have adapted to this ever-changing situation, overcome challenges and continued to push forward. Your resiliency continues to inspire me and the entire Division of Student Affairs is very proud of what you have accomplished.

Stress and anxiety increase for everyone during finals week. Try to make yourself a priority and finish strong. I encourage you to take charge of your mental health and wellness. At LMU, our Jesuit values emphasize the education of the whole person, which includes a commitment to each student’s mind, body and spirit.

Prioritize the things that are best for you and will help you to be successful in this final week. Figuring out what works best for you is key to your academic success, make sure you get enough sleep, eat right and exercise.

Your Student EXPerience continues to be available to you online through the Virtual Student EXP hub including options for Wellness Wednesdays videos, service opportunities, community meetings via Zoom and options for activities you can do right in your own home. When time permits, take the opportunity to engage in some of these activities. We understand that life’s journey can often be difficult, with highs and lows, triumphs and setbacks. We are here to support you. Please be reminded that the university has resources and services available to  assist you:

The LMU community is here for you, and we’re all rooting for you to finish strong! Remember, You’ve Got This! And We’ve Got Your Back!

Sincerely,

Terri L. Mangione, Ph.D.
Dean of Students and Vice President for Student Affairs
