Campus Ministry’s De Colores Program Celebrates 35 Years

CAMPUS MINISTRY | This year marks the 35th anniversary of Campus Ministry’s De Colores program. For nearly a generation, De Colores weekends have provided LMU Lions with an opportunity for authentic encounters with self, others, and God.These monthly faith-based, service-immersion weekends are grounded in the values of accompaniment, solidarity, and community; for intentional conversations around community, solidarity, immigration, and accompaniment.

This year, students will be taking part in virtual delegations to Tijuana, Mexico. Students will have the opportunity to hear stories of resilience from community leaders who serve hundreds of their neighbors each week through a variety of educational and vocational classes organized at the El Florido IV community center. Additionally, students will learn about the realities of migration during the COVID-19 pandemic from a representative at Casa Del Migrante, an organization that provides basic human services to deportees, displaced persons, migrants in transit, and refugees.

Dates for upcoming De Colores weekends featuring faith-based, service-immersion experiences include:

Sept. 25-27, 2020;

Oct. 15-17, 2020;

Nov. 06-08, 2020;

Dec. 11-13, 2020.

Any LMU undergraduate student may participate by applying for individual spots on one or more of the weekend delegations. Please apply here.
