7 Ways to Stay Connected to LMU this Semester

Looking for ways to stay connected to each other and the bluff this spring? From virtual clubs and student organizations to online wellness services and academic support, here are some ways to stay connected to LMU while remote learning.

1. Get Involved at LMU!

Check in on your favorite club, service organization, or Greek life. Many organizations are holding meetings through Zoom or have ways for you to participate online. Visit Student Affairs’ Virtual EXP hub for more opportunities.

2. Find wellness resources through Lion Wellness.

With a wide range of wellness services and programs available around the clock, you can stay physically, emotionally and mentally healthy wherever you are. Lion Wellness provides a roundup of these resources and services to support Lions on their LMU journey. Join LMU CARES on Instagram live weekly for its virtual Wellness Wednesday series, discover recipes in the Lion Family Cookbook, take a Zoom Group Fitness class, make virtual appointments with Student Health Services and Student Psychological Services, explore student groups and organizations and more.

3. Game online with LMU eSports or join an intramural team.

Have you ever played Among Us with nine other buddies from LMU, or played Rocket League in a two-week long battle to the championship? The LMU eSports team hosts a wide variety of gaming opportunities while Burns Rec is offering online intramural sports, too.

4. Get professional advice from LMU Career and Professional Development, and join The Pride network.

LMU’s Career and Professional Development team is supporting Lions by offering many of its regular services virtually. Meet with a peer advisor or a career coach during virtual drop-in hours, get 24/7 feedback on your resume, discover career paths, and check out Handshake to learn more about virtual employer workshops and forums. Plus, you can join The Pride network to connect with thousands of LMU alumni for career guidance and more!

5. Connect with an LMU academic advisor.

The advising team at LMU has several ways to support you, with each student assigned to a specific faculty advisor, an advisor by college, and a university advisor. Some advisors are even offering virtual office hours. Take a peek at this list to find your appropriate advisor or check out LMU’s Academic Resource Center website to make an online appointment, ask a question and more.

6. Serve others through LMU’s Center for Service and Action.

Looking for virtual service opportunities? Look no further than the LMU Center for Service and Action website. CSA is working with local community partners to identify opportunities for Lions to still engage in service virtually and through other formats during the pandemic. Participate in CSA’s virtual events, explore its resources for justice, reflection, and advocacy or learn more about other ways to get involved.

7. Take a virtual faith-based service trip with Campus Ministry’s De Colores program.

Since 1985, LMU students have been making the 145-mile journey to Tijuana, Mexico, through the De Colores program, and the pandemic hasn’t stopped these immersive trips from happening. Dates for the spring 2021 program haven’t been announced just yet, but in the meantime, you can head to Campus Ministry’s website to learn more about the program, schedule, and how to attend.
