Get to Know Graduate Students: Aleix Massot

GSLMU STUDENT FEATURE | Born in Barcelona, Spain, Aleix Massot ’20 worked in a production company there, and was lucky to be chosen to direct a short film called “The Holy Cave.” This first short comedy film was selected in more than 50 film festivals around the world and won in 22 of them.

After that, Massot decided to make a move to Los Angeles and applied to the School of Film & Television. For Massot, in his second year, he’s been most passionate about his 600 project. “It’s a musical comedy called “NDL: National Date League,” a short film where dating is treated as if it was a sport itself, just like basketball or football, and there is a musical piece at the end,” said Massot. “That led to being selected in film festivals like Golden Door Film Festival in Jersey, South Dakota Film Festival where I won for best comedy, and Oaxaca Film Fest in Mexico. In February, my short film that I did for LMU will be featured at The Hollyshorts monthly series, one of the most prestigious festivals in the Los Angeles area.”
