Student Actors Needed for a Reading of “Stand and Deliver”

DEL REY PLAYERS | The Del Rey Players are looking for students to act in a reading of “Stand and Deliver,” presented in partnership with First to Go.

The Del  Rey Players are looking for BIPOC actors (all majors and skill levels are welcome) to take on the roles in Robert Bella’s play adaptation of the movie by Ramón Menéndez and Tom Musca. Based on a true story, this drama follows Jaime Escalante, a dedicated East L.A. teacher, as he motivates inner-city students to work towards a class goal: taking the Advanced Placement Calculus Test. A story of perseverance in the face of adversity.

The event will take place on Friday, Dec. 4, at 7 p.m. The deadline for actor sign-ups is Tuesday, Nov. 24, at 11:59 p.m. Questions can be directed to delreyplayers@gmail.com. For more information and to sign up, click here.
