Kiwibots Launching in September

LMU DINING | Kiwibot delivery service is launching at several LMU restaurant locations in September and will provide the campus community with a new option for ordering meals.

Students will be able to use their meal plans to take advantage of Kiwibot delivery through their local delivery app BiteU by Sodexo,  however, anyone with access to the app can enjoy the service, with each delivery having a flat cost of $2, plus 10% of the order size. First-time delivery fees are waived and a set of subscription services are coming soon.

“Our goal is to bring innovative service solutions to the entire campus community”, said Andy O’Reilly, senior director for Auxiliary and Business Services. “We are piloting Kiwibot at several locations as we test and perfect the program and gauge the community’s response.”

Kiwibots deliver food via a locked compartment that only the recipient can open through the Bite+ app. Each robot is thoroughly sanitized between deliveries as Kiwibot greatly values safety, especially during the pandemic. Average delivery times are 20 to 35 minutes, depending on distance and peak meal delivery times.

Kiwibot was founded in 2017, and became renowned after launching a pilot at the University of California-Berkeley campus. After over 150,000 deliveries were completed at Berkeley, with product development and testing, Kiwibot expanded to the cities of San Jose, Santa Monica, Denver, Dallas, Taipei, and Medellin with a new B2B business model and partners.

Once final testing is complete on campus, meals can be ordered for robot delivery from Iggy’s Café, Qdoba, and LA Blvd.
